SWANK 47/Jamal Dewar is a 19 year old rapper from Flatbush, Brooklyn. Jamal grew up with rap and always had a connection with it. In High school he joined various music groups such as Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. Brooklyn isn't the most pleasant place, Jamal was surrounded by drugs and crime. His father died when he was 4 years of age. As a child he had a strong desire to acquire knowledge. He found comfort when reading, he wasn’t your ordinary teenager. He began meditating at 14 with the aid of drugs. At school he wasn’t the smartest student, he didn’t conform to what other were conforming to which made him unqiue! #93TilInfinity!

"AMERIKKKAN KORRUPTION" came about during a time in high school years where everyone was following fads and trying to fit in and naturally I did the same. It got to a certain point where I asked myself why? I started to open my eyes, I was a slave to television, media and the daily motions of what we call the AMERIKKKAN dream. My only intentions are to get the AMERIKKKAN public to open their eyes, from there we can grow"

Official Interview with King Capital (2013)
Hey guys this is one of my first interviews with Jason from XXL magazine. They were pretty eager to find out what was going inside my head so i opened up and told them

Jason from XXL Magazine sat down with King Capital to talk about his career and life in general.

A: So Capital, thanks for joining us today. How have you been?
KC: Yeah I'm  fine, yourself ?

A: I'm fine, I'm fine.  So let's get right into it. I'm sure the fans would love to know - when is the AMERIKKKAN KORUPTION mixtape dropping?
KC: I'll be dropping the tape on the 7th of April 2014.

A: There has been a lot of hype surrounding the mixtape. What should we expect to see on your first tape?

KC: Well I have a lot of tracks that go hard and have meaning. I've always been like that. I like stuff with morals.

A: That’s different! We hardly see people in the music industry with your style of music. You're very unique, and that’s a good thing.

KC: Yeah I guess it is.

A: So what was your life growing up as a teen in Brooklyn like?

KC: Brooklyn was a very unique place and I believe that it's home to some very special people. I'm from Flatbush Avenue, Flatbush which is a predominately black neighbourhood. Life was hard - Mum did not have the money to pay our bills and I had trouble fitting in at school. I was always reading in the library - it was my way of escaping.

A: In Brooklyn, were you surrounded by family or are the rumours true that you were segregated from your family?

KC: Not really, it was just my mum and I. My father died when I was young. I never really met him or anything but my mum has told me that he had a hot temper which I guess he passed onto me.

A: I've also heard that you're into spirituality and psychedelics, could you explain that?

KC: Umm yeah, well at 14 I decided to refuse every religion and try my own path. I just felt like I had to find my own way to 'god'. I do believe you do not need religion to find god. In my journey to find 'god' I ran into psychedelic drugs. I experimented with LSD and Psilocybin. They pretty much break down every barrier society places on you and leaves you at the root where you can do all your 'pure' thinking. I would say the psychedelics did aid my journey but I don’t condone any use of it! But yeah I've also been opening up my pineal gland which is a gland above your eyes which taps into your psychic and kinetic energy. I know the path I'm taking doesn’t really fit into my career but I'm going to keep doing it. Rapping is too easy now.

A: So why did you to follow the path of music? I mean judging from the things you told me you're very knowledgeable. Wouldn’t you want to be a philosopher or something like that ?

KC: Well I came to music just to spread a message. I want to spread knowledge. Music is the most influential thing on the planet right now. I'm sure that if Bob Marley and Elvis were alive and told us not to vote for so and so they have a good chance to change that vote. So I only came to music to spread knowledge. If I wasn’t rapping, I would probably be trying to become the smartest person.

A: Can't argue with that! Well I guess that wraps up the interview. Any last words?

KC: No not really. Just keep in mind that I will be raising the bar. Just cause I'm different  doesn’t mean that I'm not competing for the top spot!

A: Thank you for your time!
